This is what I wanted. This is what I got.

I can't comment on the gig itself as I wasn't there (too far). This review is only about the quality of the Cd. I have got a large number of live CDs and this is undoubtedly the best. Wonderful performance, excellent sound quality and a virtually perfect set-list. I originally bought the Manchester CD and was stunned by it's quality. However, John was struggling a bit with his voice due to illness so I thought I would buy an earlier gig. As hoped he was on top form. That said, the Manchester gig is also superb and, although with the same songs, very different. One gig only leaves my CD player to be replaced by the other. Unfortunately my young daughters keep complaining about "that man with the funny voice who keeps swearing". Oh well.
spine tingling

I've been waiting to see PiL live most of my adult life, and never thought I'd get the chance. I'm so glad I was there. A stunning gig from start to finish, full of emotion. 'Poptones', 'Death Disco' and 'Banging The Door' particularly brilliant, and nice to hear personal favourite 'U.S.L.S.1' get an outing. The 'new' band works so well together, and John was, well, John. Excellent work, guys. You made an old man very happy.

That what it is!
by Bullybass | 24-12-2009
PIL was always a very different beast to the Pistols and in fact after all these years stands out as being so much more musically daring than anything the Pistols could have achieved. Don't get me wrong 'Bollocks' is probably the most important album of my generation but the prospect of PIL live in 2009 is much more enticing than a Pistols reunion. Obviously these shows are not a reunion but a new PIL line up. Lu Edmonds, in particular, rose to the challenge spectacularly playing a large part of the set on Electric Saz, which worked particularly well on the Metal Box, Flowers of Romance era stuff. John is particularly on form, his vocal style much better suited to the eastern wailing of PIL than it is the Pistols these days. Loved the gig and hope we get some more.
Merry Christmas Mr Lydon!

What can you say? Its a miracle we actually got to the gig - given the weather Monday. I feel fortunate that we did. Sometimes music grabs you by the ear, body and soul, and drags you screaming with it, taking you wherever it may. Believe the hype. This was PiL as hardest working band of the year. Sublime. With passion. Was it really that good? I thought, upon arriving home in the small hours. YES IT F**KIN' WAS! And I have audio verification to prove it! Thanks Mr Lydon and BAND - Top that!
