Elton John
Even if you have never heard his music, you must have most definitely heard his name. Concert Live is having the honour of going on tour with Elton John this summer, one of the most significant, influential legends of British Rock music.
Born on the 25th of March 1947, Reginald Kenneth Dwight aka Elton John, started playing piano at the age of 4. At the age of 11 he won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music. After various music projects pursued throughout his youth, in the early 1970s he recorded the concept album “Tumbleweed Connection” his first top selling album which sold over 3,000,000 copies worldwide.
In 1992 in the USA, and in 1993 in the UK, Elton established the Elton John AIDS Foundation; his pioneering charity dedicated to breakthrough work on behalf of those around the world suffering from HIV and related illnesses. The next year he released the double platinum album The One.
In 1997 his tribute song to Lady Diana, Candle In The Wind sold over 33,000,000 copies bringing Elton in the top 25 selling artists of all times. In 1998 Elton received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II for "services to music and charitable services."
